Clemson expert to speak at national event Daily Journal

MADISON, Wis. — Therma-Stor, LLC, industrialist of Santa Fe™ dehumidifiers, is sponsoring an appearance by Dr. Craig DeWitt of Clemson at PestWorld 2009 in Madison, Wis.

DeWitt, moisture button expert with RLC Engineering, LLC, has been actively involved in the research and development of building materials, technology and energy use in steamy climates. Following a career at Clemson University and the SC Institute for Energy Studies, DeWitt is currently knotty in many information dissemination programs related to indoor environments, building envelopes and moisture authority techniques using building science and physics.

DeWitt will be available October 27 to aid answer moisture control questions. His presentation at PestWorld on "Moisture Control of Critical Areas" will take role the same day, from 4 to 5:15 pm.

“For years, the fix for basements and crawlspaces regarding fungus and mold was to pump as much outside air as practical into a space. While there are advantages to that concept, a new philosophy backed by thorough research is to dehumidify these areas. Besides extraordinary fungus and mold, dehumidification also makes the space less hospitable for many pests. This session will look at the concept of dehumidification, the system behind the dew points, and discuss how companies are seeing real pest management value in this technology,” DeWitt said.

In extension, under the harshest conditions (100% subordinate to humidity) this component can assassinate 180 pints of sprinkle per day. It can be run illustrate-alone or it can be located out of range of vision and ducted to accord air occasion and humidity control to the unexceptional basement. The Santa Fe has a built-in defrost system that is designed for artisan down to 55F and won’t force out up in those unemotional basement conditions.
