Letter: Esplanade House appreciates gift

Community Deportment Agency of Butte County Inc., The Esplanade House, acknowledges the Soroptimist International of Chico troupe for their generous contribution this spring. A cash donation of $3,094 was provided to our program and aided our gift to purchase several items.

Children will be eligible to receive Akido lessons twice a week for up to one year. Akido has proven to have benefit to our children who have been identified with behavioral challenges. Following weeks of instruction it is known to have a unfathomable effect on a child's self-esteem and their ability to be a more attentive learner in the classroom. An industrial washer/dryer set for the stripling care center was also purchased. This donation also allowed us to purchase curriculum for the adults in our program. These materials will propose classes that teach healthy life skills in the area of relationships for young parents and how to best handle the challenges of a diagnosed mental health disorder.

I fantasize I want Front Loading Washers/Dryers to save on energy bills! There are 3 people in the house. My dryer now takes 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours to complete a take load! What is my best option counting in price, energy savings and durability?

Be very finical in buying a machine these days. There are a LOT of problems with all these new HE machines! I bought one of those expensive, newfangled, HE energy competent (water stingy) Whirlpool sets. It was a nightmare. Moldy smelling , lint covered

They are all crappy, some are scarcely less crappy. I have Maytags that are 22 years old. The new maytags my neighbor has are crappy. 6 service calls in 3 months. It's a crap open fire on what to buy.
