German know-how, Asian flavour AsiaOne
Known for making king's ransom and vanilla flavours, Symrise opened a multi-million-dollar liquid automation machinery at its Pioneer Loop facility yesterday. The plant marked Phase 2 of its manufacturing and research-and-unfolding (R&D) expansion here. Housing two auto-dousing machines that increase the production speed and flexibility of making fluid flavours - used to add flavour to beverages and foods such as ice cream and yogurt - the plant caters pre-eminently to the South-east Asian market, which represents almost half of Asia-Pacific sales.
Inject 1, launched in 2008, involved upgrading the creation and development laboratories.
Phase 3 will see the introduction of advanced spray-drying and accessory equipment at a later date.
Last year, companies here exported about $4.7 billion of food-and-beverage items, according to Ecumenical Enterprise Singapore. The bulk of exports went to Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
