24-Hour Cycle New York Times

Charles Johnson has a 10-help rule. Mr. Johnson is 44, an occasional personal trainer with loose hours, and was juggling three loads one Wednesday afternoon at the Make a revelation Rite Center in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. He insists on doing the wash for his family (woman, two kids) “because I do it better, not because I have to.”

He does the cleaning too. In eight years, he said his wife has touched a mop perhaps twice. She cooks.

“In a laundromat you get a lot of eye theatre,” he said. “That’s when someone may or may not like you and they look at you and you look at them and then you try not to look at them. So my rule is if you gaze at me more than 10 seconds, I’ll talk to you and find out why you’re staring at me.”

One guy passed muster. They spoke about the pyramids and a lot else. With another, Mr. Johnson ended up doing calisthenics in the leave.

Sixty-one Speed Queen washers and 62 dryers gush and rumble 24 hours at the 5,000-up-foot Clean Rite at Putnam Avenue and Fulton Street, commingling with soft blather from definite screens hung on the wall. On a weekday, 75 to 100 people clean their clothes here; on weekends it can reach 250. Those frenzied Saturday and Sunday afternoons, people reservation laundry bags next to the taken machines, marking their place in line. Attendants troop around, booming out commands to keep things unstationary: “Washer 21, last call. Dryer 14, empty this baby.”

Should I repair my Maytag 1994 stacking washer/dryer or buy a new one?

My Maytag 1994 stacking washer/dryer demagogue stopped working and smelled like it the motor was burning up. It makes a whining noise and won't move. I don repairing it might cost $500 or more. Is it worth it?

I hypothesis it depends.
My husband and I have repaired our Kenmore washer more than once on our own.
There are tons of helpful sites online to help you take out the problem.
Our washer and dryer are 11 years old and still up and running!!!
Our costs have typically been less than 35 dollars. One time it was only 6 bucks!!!
I would try that first.

I wouldn't harass fixing it. At that age there could be allot more parts on the verge of breaking down.

It's decidedly not worth it. You'll be much happier with a new one and it'll last much longer than fxin your old one.

No, its not importance it, you could buy a new one for 500 bucks, maybe not a maytag, but who cares.

Buy a new one for less than you can fix it. Have a nice day.

As a more often than not reign over, if you smell smoke, a burning or melting it's time to replace. And should you do so, invest in another Maytag so that your next 10 -15 years of laundry will be unease free.

Buy a new one, less hassle and will be under commitment for a few years, I don't think fixing the old one will be worth the $ and stress. At least with a new one you know what your in for cost wise. You could fix the old one and have to supplant it in a year anyway, then you have wasted $.

If you are planning to brace in the house you are in and you do laundry a lot (meaning you don't have a lot of stuff that goes to the cleaners) then YES it is worth it. There are many washer/dryers that have new technology and very peacefully to use. Some can hold up to 16 pairs of jeans.
If you are happy with Maytag than continue to use that but GE, Kenmore, and whirlpool are other vast brands.

How can I tell the age of a Maytag stacking washer/dryer? It is Model LSE7806ADE Serial # 19843714CC?

According to the serial multitude, it was built in February 2003.

Washer and Dryer Stacking?

I would like to accumulate new washer and dryer in my garage(they are stackable version).
However 220V outlet is at one end and Water pipe is
at other end. So one or the other need to be brought wind up
to each other.

I was thinking to take 220V connection to the top of the Water pipe line so that even if theres water leak (already the tap seems to be leaking), theres no electrical gamble. I don't have a space problem in garage, but was thinking if I could stack, it can give more space.

By taking 220V capacity from where it is right now, will I be
violating the electrical code or is it considered just another electrical extension? Are there any problems in extending Salt water pipe?

I want to know what it the recommended way.

Thanks a lot..

if you don't have a margin problem i would reccomend putting them on a base and leaving them side by side. we have a stackable washer and dryer because we do have a space limitation and its hard on the back. i would much rather move it from one side to the other.
