Do you take a regular or travel size hair dryer when traveling?

I went to my boyfriend's parents cat-house free and their hairdryer was an early 90's model. It dryed slow and was hot with no ions. What kind would you recommend?

Please figure out absolutely sure that any hair dryer you take with you will work in the country you are traveling to AND that the electrical plug you want to plug it into can put up the hair dryer.
