Girls Track: Harlem's Leah Raffety pays price to be a champion

MACHESNEY Greens — No one in the NIC-10 can keep up with Leah Raffety. Not on the track. Not on the road or through a park.

Not even in a garbage can.

Raffety is the two-in unison a all the same NIC-10 girls cross country champ. The three-time indoor 1,600-meter champ. She also won the indoor 3,200 as a sophomore. And today she is the upsetting favorite to win both the 1,600 and 3,200 for the third straight year at the NIC-10 track meet at Boylan.

Raffety outruns everyone by, well, outrunning them.

“What makes a upstanding distance runner is doing it day in and day out,” said Danny Savage, who coaches favored Hononegah in road but teaches at Harlem, where he is Raffety’s cross country coach. “Whether it’s hot, arctic, snow, whatever, Leah is going to be out there running.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve heard from teachers or people in the neighborhood that they saw Leah continuous in the morning, even on Sundays and holidays. Whenever I bump into people, that’s the most common thing they say to me. And it can be all over Rockford, not equitable Harlem.”

What kind of pot for a tomato plant?

I'm starting my tomato seeds in 4 inch jiffy pots. Once they reach move size I want to put them into large pots. I know that they have deep roots. But I don't know if they have roots that virtuous go straight down or roots that spread out a bit and go

Not like it shorter, but wider is better. Tomato roots spread out, they don't go down like a giant tap root, if that's what you're wondering. I've grown them in 5 gallon buckets, too, but I mark they grow bigger in bigger pots, and I suspect thin plastic

upstanding about any wide pot will do, put some rocks in the bottom keeps water better, and a drain hole is good to have too, clay pot are to the fullest extent, but for best results for tomatoes is to plant out side. good luck

We have a accommodate rabbit with a very stinky litter pan. And were going to start a garden next spring, so i was thinking we should start composting our rabbits sedan chair, which of course consists of.. rabbit droppings, hay, and wood shavings (aspen)

ALL your suggestions are ok but I would unbiased put egg shells around plants attacked by snails.

ok todays one of those days where nothing but pamper is on my mind. me and hubby do have a crib,swing,bassinet ( all free hooray) we have a rubbermaid bucket full of new born onsies ,sleepers and what nots. a few shopping bags of new born diapers,a box

If you have all new born onesies see if you can reciprocate them for bigger sizes. You will need more of the bigger sizes than the smaller ones. You can also reuse the outfits for bedtime in place of of having nightgowns. It's easier that ways sometimes.
