Santa’s workshop had some serious competition in downtown Ravenna during the 1909 Christmas seasonable.

“Toys of every conceivable kind” — thousands of them — lined the shelves of Curtiss’ Game Store, which claimed to have the largest assortment of Christmas gifts in town. And all were “priced below the traditional prices,” Ravenna Republican readers were advised.

Gift ideas included 25 kinds of blocks, 10 kinds of describe, checkers, dominos, toy trucks, fire engines, trains, streetcars and — a novelty item 100 years ago — toy automobiles.

Dolls ranging from a penny to $5 were on tag sale, include Buster Brown, Hans the Dutch Boy and Little Red Riding Hood, as well as an “perennial” model evidently manufactured for less-than-dainty types.

Grown-ups could fill their stockings with chocolates, and Christmas postcards were on sales event at five for a nickel.

Which is the best brand of vacuum cleaners? Eureka? Bissell? Hoover?

I extremity to buy a new vacuum because the dirt devil I have doesnt work. I would like some feedback before I buy a new one. I'm looking to spend around $100 dollars. Any preferred models or brands?

I bought a Eureka last winter because it was the one recommended by Consumer Reports. I use it every day and have been very happy. It was $140. Your best bet is to go to the library, go to the reference desk and ask the lady for the consumer reports on vacuums and she will very nicely look it up for you. Or you can subscribe to their website for $5 for a month and check out it yourself. It will also depend on whether you mostly vacuum hard floor (vinyl, hardwood) or soft (carpets). You won't be grim if you do a little checking around first. The super expensive Orecks and Kirbys are nice, but I don't think they're 5-6 times raise, which is how much more you'll pay.

Vacuum cleaners...When it comes to maintaining suction, being leight weight, and low noise level, ...?

which vertical is best out of the department store brands? (Oreck, bissell, dyson, eureka, etc?) Recommendations should be for less than $500.
oops, that's "luminosity"
